Compact cross-connect capabilities
in an easy-to-place OSP enclosure

The Charles Multi-Purpose Housing (CMPH) Cross-Connect enclosure is a center-fed cross-connect interface system scalable in 300 pair increments up to 1200 pairs total. It is housed in a CMPH enclosure designed to provide flood-proof environmental protection and superior access to internal working areas. The CMPH Cross-Connect features high-density Tyco® Dat@Term terminal blocks designed for high-speed data housed in a single, above-grade enclosure. The enclosure’s compact design and easy installation make it a cost-effective solution for virtually any outside plant application, especially in floodplains. Its two-piece construction is ideal for rehabilitation of metal cross-connect cabinets with minimal disturbance of the existing cable bundle.

Datasheet

Cross-Connect Features:

  • Solid construction with metal frame and swingout doors
  • Organized cable routing around hinged side of swingout doors allows both doors to be opened simultaneous without disturbing splice bundles, while allowing superior access to terminal blocks and connections on both sides of panel
  • Terminal blocks may be added incrementally for grow-as-you-go scalability
  • Swingout doors may be locked in an open position using cup washer screws chained to top of frame
  • Doors are secured shut by metal clips mounted on side rail of metal frame
  • Two ladder bars organize and support internal splice bundles
  • Metal grounding bar and ground plate provided for bonding and strain relief
  • Pair identification label included on top of panel

Outer Enclosure Features:

  • Structurally rugged, non-metallic outer housing offers dent resistance, corrosion protection, electric shock safety and positive alignment in opening and closing
  • The lift-off dome locks securely onto the base with side self-latches and bolt locks, creating a "bell-jar" effect that protects internal components in flood-prone areas
  • The lift-off dome provides full 360° access to internal working area
  • Ribbed molding in the pedestal base provides a stable footing in all soil conditions and allows the base to be installed with or without the use of mounting stakes
  • Grooved channels provide proper alignment and mounting of optional Charles metal Universal Mounting Stakes (UMS)
